VMWARE WOMEN OF PURPOSE ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

About Women of Purpose
VMware Women of Purpose is a community of IT professionals who are passionate about supporting, motivating, mentoring, educating and elevating women in IT. The community provides opportunities to network at VMware events and communities with other successful women in IT who are VMware customers, partners and employees. With guidance and contributions from BUILD.org, NPower and the VMware Foundation, we contribute to the VMware corporate goals of active learning and giving back to the community at large.

Build
About BUILD.org
BUILD’s mission is to use entrepreneurship to excite and propel disengaged, low-income students through high school to college success. BUILD believes the power of student ideas in action drives youth to reach their fullest potential in school and beyond. That’s why we help our students develop their own business ideas, write business plans, pitch to funders and launch real businesses. As they reap the rewards—from keeping their profits to gaining self-confidence—they clearly see the connection between the classroom and career success. And because we know they can and should attend college, students also receive individualized academic support and advising for their school-work and college planning. To date, 95 percent of BUILD seniors have graduated from high school and 100 percent have been accepted to college.

By bringing together corporations, foundations, volunteers, nonprofits, young adults, schools and libraries we achieve our mission to do social good.
The Community Corps powered by NPower: Make a difference…volunteer your skills! The Community Corps represents a unique and powerful community of nonprofits, corporations, and skilled professionals, who share a passion for using technology to make a difference in people’s lives. The Community Corps achieves this by matching pro bono resources with nonprofits in need of support. Last year, The Community Corps volunteers donated 19,237 hours to nonprofits.
One of our initiatives includes matching volunteers to a range of nonprofits focused on the development, mentoring of young women in IT. Become a volunteer and help inspire the next generation of science and technology professionals!
