Duncan Bennet is responsible for VMware's operations across Australia and New Zealand, one of VMware's fast growing global markets. Duncan joined VMware in January 2010, bringing with him over 30 years of experience gained through sales and management roles with multi-million dollar IT corporations across Australia and New Zealand. These roles include senior positions at organisations such as Sun Microsystems, Forte Software and Pyramid Technology. Prior to joining VMware, Duncan held senior leadership roles including Vice President and Managing Director of Sun Microsystems in Australia, as well as Managing Director of the start-up Forte Software Corporation.
Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer
Tony Scott joined VMware in August 2013 and leads the company's global information technology group, bringing more than 35 years of leadership and management experience in IT services. Scott's organisation is focused on the effective use of IT to bring improved agility and cost savings to the business. Most recently, Scott served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Microsoft, overseeing all aspects of the company's information technology organisation and enterprise digital supply chain. Prior to Microsoft, he served as CIO at The Walt Disney Company, responsible for corporate and company-wide shared service functions, including enterprise wide application development and support. He took the company through major systems upgrade of their SAP environment, managed transformation of several major functions to outsourced partners and delivered a multi-year, strategy planning framework for IT within the company. Scott also served as the Chief Technology Officer of Information Systems & Services at General Motors Corporation. He holds a bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management from the University of San Francisco and a Juris Doctorate with a concentration in Intellectual Property, International Law from Santa Clara University.
Vice President & Chief Technologist, Hybrid Cloud
Simone Brunozzi is Vice President and Chief Technologist for VMware Inc., focusing on Cloud technology (vCloud Hybrid Services). He is responsible for strategy, setting the roadmap and driving innovation in the company. His role includes public speaking, maintaining relationships with key clients and managing a team of Solutions Engineers to drive adoption of VMware's Cloud products. Simone has a technical background in Computer Science, experience as an entrepreneur, professor, and has worked in the industry for 15+ years, focusing on Cloud Computing since 2006.
He frequently mentors startups and innovative companies, including ones incubated in startup accelerators (Techstars, H-Farm, Founder Institute, MindTheBridge, and others). He is an investor and advisor of CloudAcademy.com (knowledge platform), Nouvola.com (cloud based, scalable performance testing and performance analytics), and others. He maintains a syndicate on Angel List. He is also very involved in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, and he's going to publish a book on Bitcoin in mid 2014.
Simone grew up in Italy, and after having been a four-times entrepreneur in Italy, a University professor at the young age of 26, a CTO, and after having written two technical books and two novels, he left Italy to join Amazon Web Services in March 2008 as the first Technology Evangelist for Europe (EMEA), to raise awareness about Cloud Computing and help developers build applications.
In January 2010 he relocated to Singapore as the first Technology Evangelist for the APAC region. In 2010 he received the “2010 Cloud Evangelist of the Year” award. In July 2012, Simone relocated to San Francisco, as the first Senior Technology Evangelist for Americas.
Chief Technology Officer, End-User Computing
Kit Colbert is the CTO, End-User Computing at VMware, driving technical strategy and advanced development of innovative solutions for VMware's desktop, social, and mobility products. A 10 year veteran at VMware, Kit previously held roles as the Chief Architect and Principal Engineer for Horizon Workspace and as the lead Management Architect for the vCenter Operations Suite. At the start of his career, he was the technical lead behind the creation, development, and delivery of the vMotion and Storage vMotion features in vSphere. Kit holds a ScB in Computer Science from Brown University and is a recognised thought-leader on End-user Computing and Cloud Management trends. He speaks regularly at industry conferences, on the main stage at VMworld, and is the desktop and mobility voice for the VMware Office of the CTO blog.
Chief Technology Officer, Networking
Bruce Davie is VMWare’s CTO of networking. He joined VMware as part of the Nicira acquisition, and focuses on network virtualization. He has over 25 years of networking industry experience, and was a Cisco Fellow prior to joining Nicira. At Cisco, he worked closely with leading service providers to enhance the capabilities of their networks. He led the team that developed multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) and contributed to the standards on IP quality of service. He has written over a dozen Internet RFCs and several networking textbooks. Bruce received his Ph. D. in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh in 1988 and is an ACM Fellow.
Associate Vice President, IDC Asia/Pacific ICT Services Group
Chris Morris is the lead analyst for the Cloud Services research program in Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APEJ) and a member of the IDC worldwide cloud computing research team. Based in Sydney, Chris comes to IDC with 20 years of extensive IT research and 35 years of industry experience. Prior to joining IDC in 2007, Chris worked as an independent IT industry researcher and consultant for six years. Prior to 2002, he was Gartner's Group Vice President and Director of Research for the Asia/Pacific region with responsibilities ranging from business development to research delivery to client engagement activities. During his tenure in Gartner in 1992, Chris was the first research analyst in the Asia/Pacific region for the organisation. Previously, he worked for a number of technology vendors including Fujitsu, Amdahl and Hitachi Data Systems, in a variety of technical, product marketing and management roles.
Sr. Director of Product Marketing, VMware Network & Security Business Unit
Rod joined VMware in 2012 through the acquisition of Nicira where he led product marketing. He brings a unique combination of technical knowledge and market experience having lead product management and marketing for a number of networking, network management and network security start ups, and has held field and product management positions at SynOptics/Bay Networks and Novell.
Director DaaS – APJ End User Computing VMware
Asanga Wanigatunga is the Director of Desktop as a Service (DaaS) for APJ at VMware. He is a subject matter expert in End User Computing related technologies with deep insights into market trends and has a clear vision of where the industry is rapidly evolving to and where it will be going in the future. His role at VMware is to develop the Desktop as a Service ecosystem and the line of business across the APJ region. Prior to this Asanga was the Snr Product Marketing Manager for EUC for VMware ANZ and his role was to evangelise technology concepts and assist customers in building a future proof end user computing strategy that will enable them to be more agile to changing market and business trends.
In his former position, Asanga worked as a Technology Specialist responsible for driving Endpoint Management sales in the ANZ region for Symantec. Asanga's previous role was Technical Services Manager for a Solution Provider specialising in CRM and IT Service Management-based solutions, and was responsible for Pre-Sales, Consulting and Support services. Asanga was also part of a start-up specialising in Web development solutions for the Australian SME market.
Asanga hold a degree in Bachelor of Computer Science majoring in System Design.
Senior Product Marketing Manager, VMware ANZ
Aaron Steppat is the Senior Product Marketing Manager, Software Defined Data Centre, VMware, responsible for managing this complex and strategic portfolio across Australia and New Zealand.
Aaron joined VMware in May 2012, bringing more than fifteen years of industry experience. Prior to joining VMware, he worked at Dell for six years, in a range of technology specialist and product marketing roles.
Aaron is a passionate technology evangelist with a flair for presenting, having spoken at numerous industry events around the world and represents VMware as a media spokesperson. Aaron lives in Sydney and has a daughter.
Senior Product Marketing Director, APJ
Muneyb is responsible for the overall strategy, growth and profitability of Software-Defined Data Centre, End User Computing and Cloud Hybrid Service product portfolio for VMware across Asia Pacific and Japan. Muneyb has more than 20 years of IT experience having previously held positions at Apple, CSIRO and most recently as the APAC CTO for Avaya. He started his career with a very strong technical background filing 33 international technology patents and developing industry standards. He quickly evolved to a business savvy professional who built several new differentiating solutions that generated more than $100M net new revenues globally during his 3 year tenure in USA. He has 8 years of experience successfully launching global products in APJ and is very familiar with the different go to market strategies required for each country. As a CTO, he spent most of his time consulting as well as conducting technology and business workshops with the top CxOs across APJ.
Muneyb holds a Master of Engineering in Telecommunications and a Master of Business Administration in Strategy Management. Muneyb has actively participated in open standard organisations, contributing to Linux Kernel development and authoring several Internet networking standards.
Managing Director ANZ, AirWatch by VMware
Robinson Roe serves as AirWatch by VMware’s vice president and managing director for the Australian and New Zealand markets, overseeing the company’s in-country business development, professional services and marketing efforts. A 30-year veteran in the telecom, mobility and technology industries, Roe spent nine years with Telstra, working in a variety of leadership positions.
